A Wedding Poem

In July 2024, daughter Ellen got married to a wonderful man named Jason. I knew their marriage was made in heaven as they began to date more and more. I felt led to write a poem expressing my love to them and to celebrate Ellen’s beautiful heart and Jason’s Christlike life.

It seemed like only days ago

You danced around with such a glow

Ballerina was your name

A face of bliss, a joy untamed

~

Then you grew before my eyes

Became a rare and special prize

Reflecting God who loves you well

When you shine and when you fail.

~

Today I hold you still so tight

Yet a man has come in sight

To give you kind and gentle love

As our God gives from above.

~

This man's a copy from the Lord

There is no grace he ever hoards

I’m handing off my role to him

To love your heart, in bright and dim

~

So run on now begin your life

Join with him to be his wife

And all this joy that's in your heart...

When one with God, will not depart.
