Shadow Man

The Bible is clear that we have an enemy who seeks to “kill, steal and destroy” all that’s good in our life. The little angel on one shoulder and devil on the other is not too far from truth. The enemy’s ways are “cunning as a serpent” so we are wise to acknowledge our weakness and seek out our Helper.

I wrote this poem when sensing that negative ungodly force near me some time ago. I hope it is helpful in demonstrating the reality of the darkness and the Light. God wants to draw you close to His perfect light and He will if you say yes to Him.

Shadow Man

Shadow man stalks near the gate

Just beyond my soul

I know he’s dead but there he waits

To thwart my sacred role

~

In my pain I turn to him, looking for some way

To soothe the past I daily bear

To ease a place I’ve closed away

Then I turn and give him life

Intended joy ends up in strife

~

Shadow man he lingers by

Awaiting doubt and fear

He knows he can concoct a way

To change my course and draw me near

~

But then a blazing light so bright

All shadows disappear

No more can shadows threaten me

No more can evil peer

~

His Light it shines away the dark

No shadows to behold

Oh thank the Lord for Heaven's light

A light foretold from days of old
